â- Congratulations to current and former members of the Pellett laboratory, William L. Close, Ashley N. Anderson, and Philip E. Pellett, who published a book chapter titled "Betaherpesvirus Virion Assembly and Egress in the book Human Herpesviruses", which is part of the Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology book series volume 1045.

â- Starting tonight, Monday, September 10, the Scott Hall 7th Floor hallways will be getting waxed. Please remove anything you have in the hallway before leaving today. The process could take up to 3 weeks to complete.

â- A disposal list is being put together of items in BMI department needed to be removed and discarded. Please contact Joe (jfiore@med.wayne.edu) if you have any items to add to this list.

â- ATTENTION ALL PHD, MD/PHD, AND MASTER'S STUDENTS:

This is a reminder that abstract submission for Wayne State University's C.P. Lee Endowed Graduate Student Research Presentation Day (GSRPD) IS OPEN. To submit an abstract, head to the GSRPD webpage, gsrpd.med.wayne.edu, click on the tab "Abstract Submission", and click the link at the top of the page. Submission for poster presentations will end on September 14. It is important to note that abstract submission will be capped at 115 total submissions (15 oral and 100 poster).

â- Orten Lecture - Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 12:30pm, Margherio Conference Center, Speaker, Dr. Bruce Beutler, Professor, 2011 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, UT Southwestern Medical Center. Lecture schedule will be sent out closer to the date.

â- Thomas Holland Retirement Symposium - Friday, November 30, 2018, in Mazurek 301-304, 8:00am-5:00pm. The program will include some outstanding speakers. Agenda to follow closer to the date.

Other Event Happening:

â- "Mark the Date": Department of Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences (OVAS) is organizing the 5th Annual Vision Research Workshopon October 10th, 2018 (Wednesday). It's a one-day event hosted at the Kresge Eye Institute with the goal to highlight the research accomplishments of OVAS trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows).
