â- Congratulations to Kendall Muzzarelli for being awarded the 2019-2020 Vera Fay Righthand Fellowship in Virology. Kendall is a Ph.D. student in Dr. Kovari's laboratory.

â- Recent BMI Publications:

â-¦ A paper by Kevin Theis and Deric Learman's lab at Central Michigan University, titled "Microbial community structure and microbial networks correspond to nutrient gradients within coastal wetlands of the Laurentian Great Lakes," has been accepted, and is now available online, in the journal FEMS Microbiology Ecology.

â-¦ A paper by Kevin Theis and Philippe Vandenkoornhuyse's lab at University of Rennes, France titled "Clonal plants as meta-holobionts," has been published in mSystems.

â-¦ Dr. Pellett recently published a paper in Virology, "Classification of human Herpesviridae proteins using Domain-architecture Aware Inference of Orthologs (DAIO)," with investigators from the J. Craig Venter Institute and Harvard University," and an editorial "An old rose and its newly revealed thorns" in Journal of Infectious Diseases.

â- Are you up for a Student vs. Faculty challenge?! Cameron Roberts is leading BMI's fundraiser for this year's 2019 American Heart Walk/Run on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Our goal is to raise $1500. See attached flyer for details about the event. Details about the Student vs. Faculty challenge are in development and will be shared soon.
