â- The Theis lab (Kevin, Jonathan, Osama, Andrew, and Madison), in collaboration with Danielle Whittaker at Michigan State University, has had a paper accepted for publication in the Journal of Experimental Biology. The paper, titled "Experimental evidence that symbiotic bacteria produce chemical cues in a songbird," is the first such experimental demonstration of this hypothesis using antibiotics combined with molecular, culture, and biochemical techniques. This was one of the first projects Jonathan worked on when he joined the lab -- he did the microbial culture work for the paper. Congratulations Jonathan!
