â- BMI Retreat

The 2019 BMI Retreat will be held this Friday (September 27) from 9:30 AM until 3:00 PM in the Margherio Conference Center (adjacent to the Scott Hall cafeteria). The scientific program will include:

  • Talks by students and fellows who will provide overviews of the research that goes on in their laboratory;
  • Research posters;
  • A keynote talk on "Working together to improve child health" by Dr. Gil Mor (Director of the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development).
  • Lunch will be provided.

    â- Dr. Stuart Levy, of Tufts University, passed away last week. Dr. Levy was among the first to document the amplification and spread of antibiotic resistance via widespread use of antibiotics as part of livestock husbandry. In the words of Dr. Levy, "Bacteria have seen dinosaurs come and they've seen them go, so we aren't going to destroy the bacterial world. We live in the bacterial world." Read more in this article.
