• Congratulations to the Theis and Gomez-Lopez labs who published a review in Critical Reviews in Microbiology titled Sneathia: an emerging pathogen in female reproductive disease and adverse perinatal outcomes. In it, they review the methods used for the diagnosis of Sneathia infections, its virulence mechanisms, its sensitivity to antibiotics, and its roles in bacterial vaginosis, chorioamnionitis, PPROM, sPTL, stillbirth, maternal and neonatal sepsis, HIV infection, and cervical cancer. This week's seminar speaker, Dr. Chunyu Wang, had to cancel his seminar because of a family emergency. Please note that we will have an IFG Seminar on May 4 and our last BMI seminar for this Winter 2021 term will be on May 11. The speaker will be Dr. Aaron Ralby from the UK. Please be sure to join the seminar that day for a different kind of talk.
