• BMI Faculty meeting is this week, Thursday, August 13, 2020, 11:30 a.m. Kayla will be sending out a Teams meeting invitation.
• Dr. Noel R. Rose passed away recently at the age of 92. Dr. Rose was widely recognized at the father of autoimmunity; he made many fundamental contributions to our understanding of autoimmune diseases, such as hyperthyroidism, scleroderma, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease and psoriatic arthritis. Dr. Rose served as Chair of the WSU SOM’s Department of Immunology & Microbiology from 1973-1982, a period when the department became known for its work in the area of inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system, including multiple sclerosis. In 2017, the Department of Immunology & Microbiology was merged with the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology to form our current Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Immunology.
