  • Congratulations to a member of the BMI adjunct faculty for a recent accomplishment:
    • Dr. Andrew Berti (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences) and lab post-doc, Somrita Dey on a second PubMed publication. “Reduced Production of Bacterial Membrane Vesicles Predicts Mortality in ST45/USA600 Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Bacteremia.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31861446 
  • Congratulations to the Theis Lab on two publications:
    • The Theis Lab (Kevin, Andrew, Jonathan & Madison) and Kuhn Lab (Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences Department) had a paper titled “Synthetic psychoactive cathinones and amphetamine stimulants differentially alter the gut microbiome in mice” accepted for publication in PLoS One. This is the first publication from several ongoing collaborations between these two labs.
    • The Theis Lab (Kevin, Andrew) and Holekamp Lab (Michigan State University) published a paper titled “Body-site specific microbiota reflect sex and age class among wild spotted hyenas” in FEMS Microbiology Ecology (DOI: 10.1093/femsec/fiaa007). Connie Rojas, the first author on the paper, completed this research while visiting the Theis Lab over two summers. Several other papers from her research visit are in preparation.
  • Congratulations to BMI Ph.D. Student, Andrew Kulek and Mentor Dr. Karin Przyklenk on Andrew’s first authored, invited review paper, published in Cells. Link to paper: https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4409/9/1/214
