  • Abdullah Al-Homoudi Public M.S. Defense

    On Tuesday, May 19, Abdullah, from Dr. Wang’s lab, will be defending his thesis, “Generation of Neural Stem Cells (NSCs) from Human Fibroblasts using QQ-Modified Neurod and Sox2 Proteins” via Microsoft Teams. If you would like to attend this event, email awolak@wayne.edu

  • The Theis lab, in collaboration with the Gomez-Lopez lab and the Perinatology Research Branch, published a paper titled “No consistent evidence for microbiota in the placental and fetal tissues of rhesus macaques” in mSphere. The paper is the third in a series of studies investigating the presence/absence of a microbiome in the placental and/or fetal environments of humans, non-human primates, and mice.   • Congratulations to Alice Turner, from Dr. Huettemann’s Lab for successfully defending her M.S. Thesis, “The Functional Effects of Cytochrome C Acetylation in Ischemic Skeletal Muscle.”  Also, congratulations to Ali-Rida Beydoun, from Dr. Kovari’s lab, for successfully defending his M.S. Thesis, “Drug Design Studies of Zika Virus Protease Inhibitors.”
     
  • Emergency financial support for students.  The Office of Student Financial Aid has established the WSU CARES Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund to assist students with urgent financial needs directly related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus.  Applications are being accepted now.  Funds will be disbursed until they are exhausted.  Click the underlined text for further information.
